HealthCampaigns
DolphinEnergy undertakes
several health campaigns
each year. Topics discussed
inprevious campaigns
included hypertension,
diabetes, breast cancer,
andweightmanagement.
One example, in 2011, was
the campaign conducted
inpartnershipwithZayed
University that raised
awareness of the risks
associatedwithVitamin
Ddeficiency. Additionally,
a heat-stress program is
held annually to address
the risks associatedwith
workingduring thedaytime
throughout the summer.
All employees are required to
undergo an extensive health
check every three years. All
prospective employees are
required to undergo a fit-to-
work checkup administered
by amedical professional;
the checkup results are
reviewedbyDolphinEnergy’s
Occupational HealthTeam
todeterminewhether
potential employees are fit to
participate in the company’s
work environment.
Occupational HealthPromotion
DrManish Lamba recently
joinedDolphinEnergy as
headof Occupational Health.
A firm advocate of the
importance of occupational
health, DrManish states
that: “…occupational health
implies the science and art
of protecting theworker from
the healthhazards arising
out of or relevant to thework
andwork environment – the
quintessential aspects of
the roles beingproactive,
pre-emptive, and creative.”
He further emphasized the
risk factors that occupational
health helps tomitigate:
“some risk factors at the
workplacemay lead to
adverse outcomes like
acutepoisoning, respiratory
diseases, blooddiseases,
hearing loss, skin-related
conditions, andmany
other conditions.”
Anoccupational health
program targets the
preventionof these kinds
of conditions. Therefore,
successful programs,
Dr Lamba notes, utilize
different approaches that
fit the specificworkplace
environment, including,
but not limited to,medical
check-ups,maintenance
of occupational hygiene,
biological monitoring,
and ergonomics.
