Biodiversity
ResourceManagement
DolphinEnergy has a
longstanding commitment
toprotectingbiodiversity.
In its early phases of
operation, the company
made a concerted effort to
limit its activities’ impact on
thebiodiversity surrounding
its facilities. Thiswas
achieved via successful
projects focusingon coral
habitat conservation and
turtleprotection. Despite
theprojects’ conclusion,
DolphinEnergy continues
tobe aware of and involved
inprotecting the habitats
surrounding its facilities, and
is thuswell positioned to
enhance its commitment to
conserving local biodiversity.
Resource optimization is
a key for DolphinEnergy.
Optimizationgoals include
the active reductionof
consumptionof gas, water,
paper, andothermaterials
used in its operations.
Effectivewastemanagement,
including recycling, is also
an important factor in
resource optimization. Efforts
in these areas not only
minimizeDolphinEnergy’s
environmental impact, but
alsooften lead tooperational
cost-saving.
Materials consumption
The company’smainproductionprocess uses raw, wet gas
extracted from subsea gas fields toproduce natural gas and
other valuableby-products.

DolphinEnergy’s facilities
inQatar utilizedesalinated
water provided through
theKahramaa energy grid.
This ismostly used as a
make-up to compensate the
consumptionof fire-water
and theblow-downpurges
of theHP steamboilers and
also toproducepotable
water. Domestic sanitary
effluents, rainwater and
washingwater are collected,
treated andmixedwith the
steamboilers blow-down
purgewater tobe used as
irrigationwater.
The LP steam condensates
are recycled as feedwater
for the steamboilers. The
offshoreproductionwater
and the onshoreprocess
water are treated through the
on-sitewastewater treatment
facilities and re-injected
intoonshorewater bearing
reservoirs via twowastewater
injectionwells. Cooling
sea-water is returned to the
common cooling sea-water
network, after coolingdown
the closed loopTempered
CoolingWater network,
leading to an absence of
consumptionwithin theplant.
In theUAE, water is provided
by theAbuDhabiWater and

fromdesalinationplants.
