Respect for the environment and sustainabledevelopment is a long
standingpart of our tradition. The lateSheikhZayedBinSultan
Al Nahayan captured this in his ownbeliefs:
‘‘We cherishour environment because it is an integral part of our
country, our history andour heritage. On land and in the sea,
our forefathers lived and survived in this environment. Theywere
able todo soonly because they recognized the need to conserve it,
to take from it onlywhat they needed to live, and topreserve it for
succeedinggenerations.’’
Aswe continue tomove forward, it is important that sustainable
development remains at the centre of our efforts to securebeneficial
growth for future generations. Sustainabilitymanagement is ourmeans
of working towards sustainabledevelopment. It is the integrated
management of economic, social and environmental considerations
in amanner that creates optimal value for our stakeholders in a socially
and ecologically responsiblemanner. By embedding sustainability
management across our company, we canminimize our environmental
impacts andmaximize our involvement andpositive economic and
social impactswithin the communities inwhichwe operate.
Our commitment endorses the visionof HHSheikhKhalifaBinZayed
