Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Recognizes HSE Contractors for their Commitment

Abu Dhabi, UAE, Nov 25, 2014 – Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Limited has awarded three contractors for their sustained commitment to improving effective communication strategies and enhancing overall standards across Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE).

Taking place at Al Sharq Village & Spa Hotel on 19th Nov 2014, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation ’s 7th Annual HSE Contractors’ Meeting brought together the company’s key contractors under the theme of “The Road to a Safer Workplace, in Partnership”. The meeting provided opportunities to share experiences and to strengthen mutual relationships for the success of all the parties involved and for the greater benefit of the broader community.

Awards and certificates of appreciation were distributed among the best performing companies. Descon Engineering L.L.C was awarded as Contractor of the Year 2014; Larsen & Toubro Limited and Schlumberger Overseas S.A. were selected as the runners up, marking their continued support and sustained commitment towards safety performance throughout the 12 month period.

The meeting was led by Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation ’s Deputy General Manager, Mohammed Al Sulaiti, along with members of Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation ’s senior management team; Hassan Al Emadi, Chief Operating Officer; Ali Al Rahbi, Senior Vice President HSE&S; Jassim Al Malki, HSE&S Manager, and Ahmed Al Jumaily, Director - Operations Planning.

Highlighting the importance of the workshop, Mr. Adel Albuainain, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation , said: “When you consider the risks and challenges associated with the energy industry, an effective and productive partnership between the company and its contractors is vital. As such, our contractors collaborate with us to improve HSE performance and strengthen the safety culture across the company and it is only right that their efforts are recognized and rewarded.

“In addition, we have implemented programs that focus on continuous improvement, and engaged with our employees to emphasize sound safety processes and procedures. We are also actively removing risk in the workplace and continually measuring and improving our performance”. 

The meeting included other activities which included a poster presentation competition in which eight companies had participated.

Descon Engineering L.L.C received the award and certificate for the best poster presentation followed by Anabeeb Services Co. W.L.L. with the second place and PII Pipeline Solutions (GE) at the third place for the competition.
