Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Sponsors Summer Program For Special Needs Children In Abu Dhabi

Dhs 200,000 Donation also Supports Teachers for 10 Months

Abu Dhabi, November 2, 2004 – Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Limited sponsored the recently-concluded summer program of Abu Dhabi’s Welfare & Rehabilitation Center for People with Special Needs with a donation of Dhs 200,000.

The donation was used to support the special seven week series of activities for more than 250 children, including swimming, sports equipment, entertainment and handicrafts. Part of it has also gone to fund salaries for psychiatric support and speech training over the 10 month period, June 2004 to March 2005.

The Center’s Director, Maryam Saif Al Qubasi, said at the conclusion of the program: “We are grateful to Dolphin for this contribution. During the hot months, time can hang heavily for children with special needs – Dolphin’s donation has given us the opportunity to provide extra curricular entertainment and sports in a safe environment.”

Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Executive Vice President, Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ansari added: “Dolphin is proud of its support for the Center, and I would encourage other private companies to offer sponsorship for this and other such centers in the UAE. These children deserve opportunities for a fulfilling life, like every other child.”

Mrs Al Qubasi explained that the Center’s main objective was to provide social and psychological care in a healthy environment for students with special needs, all the year round. The Center, one of Abu Dhabi’s leading privately-funded charities, is located next to Abu Dhabi’s Al Mafraq Hospital.
