Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Receives Annual Environment Award From

Readers Select Dolphin’s Three-Year Coral Reef
Preservation Project as the 2004 Winner

Abu Dhabi, December 15, 2004 – Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Limited has been selected by readers of the regional energy journal ‘Pipeline Magazine’ as winner of its 2004 Excellence in Energy Award for ‘Best in Environment’.

This award – which is entirely based on voting by the journal’s readers – recognizes Dolphin’s sponsorship of the World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) initiative to research and protect coral reef habitats in the UAE and Qatar.

Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation ’s Executive Vice President Operations, Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ansari, will receive the award during tonight’s Excellence in Energy Awards Ceremony

The event takes place at Dubai’s Nad Al Sheba Club under the patronage of the UAE Minister of Energy, H E Mohammed Bin Dha’en Al Hamili: it honors high achievers throughout the region’s oil and gas industry on an annual basis.

The award to Dolphin relates to the three year research and study project which the company has launched in association with the WWF, with ERWDA (the Abu Dhabi Environmental Research and Wildlife Development Agency) and SCENR (Qatar’s Supreme Council for the Environment & Nature Reserves).

Dolphin’s sponsorship totals $500,000. The project will run from 2004 through 2006, to establish a complete picture of the status and threats to coral reefs in the Arabian Gulf – and to prepare a conservation plan for potential protected areas and restoration. An atlas and full identification guide are to follow.
