Abu Dhabi, UAE, 5th April, 2011: In an illustration of its continued commitment to Qatarization, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation is co-sponsoring the Qatar Career Fair, which is taking place at the Doha Exhibition Center from 10th-14th April, 2011.
Held under the patronage of Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Fair offers Qatari students’ education, scholarship, recruitment and training and development opportunities to enable them to pursue long term career opportunities. It is expected that more than 100 public and private sector companies representing the following industries – energy and industry, communication, tourism, insurance, education, media and sports.
Dolphin’s support comes at a time when the company is taking important steps in its efforts to increase the number of Qatari Nationals working at the company. At the end of March 2011, Dolphin has seen a 30% increase in numbers over the last twelve months, meaning that 28% of the total workforce is now represented by Nationals.
Building on the importance of providing opportunities to Nationals, Mr. Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation , Qatar, said: “Supporting the development of Qataris is a top priority as we strive to meet the target of 50% nationalization. Sponsorship of this event is integral to our strategy and provides us with the perfect platform to interact and engage with young, bright Qatari talent. Since we exhibited at last year’s Fair, we have received many CVs which we then reviewed. We are looking forward to another successful event.”
Dolphin has a strong track record in the recruitment and retention of Qatari Nationals. Among the many initiatives that it undertakes, the company attends international recruitment fairs targeting Qataris studying overseas. Closer to home, Dolphin works very closely with important government entities and leading educational institutions in Qatar to encourage Nationals into the workplace, providing sponsorship and on-the-job training opportunities that help prepare employees for a career in the company.
Once recruited, Dolphin implements a number of training initiatives focusing on development, career progression and retention.
In addition, Dolphin has utilized its relationship with its shareholder Total to offer MBA degree opportunities to Qatari employees while a series of in-house training programs, customized to Dolphin’s needs, were conducted to help develop important skills and ensure better integration into all aspects of the company’s business.
