Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation To Participate In Qatar Career Fair 2012

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 28TH March, 2012: Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Qatar today announced that it is participating in the Qatar Career Fair, which is taking place at the Qatar National Convention Center from 1st – 5th April, 2012.

Held under the patronage of the Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Fair offers Qatari students’ with education, scholarships, recruitment and training and development opportunities to enable them to pursue long term career opportunities.

As Gold Sponsor, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation is marking its presence by providing online facilities to submit CVs on the stand and running on-the-spot interviews to prospective candidates. In addition, the company is also offering career counseling sessions, providing assistance to those seeking advice on developing their careers.

The company’s participation comes at a time when it is experiencing continued growth in the number of Qataris joining the company. Since March 2012, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation has registered the Qatar workforce at 32%, representing a growth of more than 7% compared to the same period last year. It also illustrates the positive strides taken by the company as it pursues a target of 33% Qatarization by the end of the year.

Outlining the importance of events such as the Qatar Career Fair, Mr Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Qatar, said: “This event is crucial to our Qatarization program because it provides opportunities to engage with bright, young Qataris directly. As the result of our participation we are able to support candidates, either by offering them a position at our company or by helping provide guidance and career advice. We have a number of technical and non-technical positions, scholarship and internship opportunities on offer and we are looking forward to more success this year.”

Over the last twelve months, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation , which has developed a strong track record in the recruitment and retention of Qataris, has introduced a number of programs to help attract employees and deepen the employee experience.

The company launched its Core Competency Model framework after just five years in operation, which provides the framework for employee assessment, selection, appraisals and career development.

In addition, the company has enhanced a number of important policies, including the Study Leave Policy, allowing Qatari employees to complete their educational growth while working at the company and obtain formal or academic or professional qualifications relevant to the company.

Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation continues to offer its Scholarship Program for High School Graduates. Furthermore it has introduced a National Retention Allowance which encourages Qatar Nationals to build long careers at the company by being rewarded for their commitment and continued growth.

Another important area is that of employee recognition and over the last 12 months, as many as 46 Qatari employees have been recognized for either achieving impressively high GPA scores, completed their Individual Development Plans, and completed their education studies or self achievement.
