Doha, Qatar – 7th February, 2012: Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Qatar today announced that it had raised QAR 120,000 following its participation in this year’s 2012 Commercialbank Qatar Masters.
The company which is Presenting Sponsor of the annual golf event, ran a special donation program which saw it contribute funds based on the scores returned by the golfers. For every birdie, eagle and albatross scored Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation contributed QAR50, QAR500 and QAR5,000 respectively.
In addition, the company joined forces The Tour Players Foundation (TPF), the charitable foundation of the European Tour and its Members, who made QAR20, QAR200 and QAR2,000 donations per birdie, eagle and albatross.
Despite the fact that the tournament was reduced to three days because of windy conditions, a total of 1,039 birdies and 23 eagles were registered. This totalled QAR88,830. The senior management team from Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation and the TPF then pledged to top up the amount raised to a final total of QAR120,000.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Oil Corporation Qatar, commented: “To register this amount is a wonderful achievement and I would like to thank every player for his contribution. We were proud to have worked with the Tour Players Foundation to support a worthy cause and hope to collaborate again in the future,”
